Tora! Tora! Tora!. Tora is Japanese word which means Tiger, which has the quality of hide and attack. It is a code word which Japanese used at the time of Pearl Harbor attack. I don’t want to go too much into the technicality of this movie as I just wanted to know what happened on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, which made America to join the war zone of World War II and this is the perfect movie to watch.
Two teams worked on this movie. One team made out of movie of what happened in America at the time of attack, and another team made a movie of how Japanese planned to attack Pearl Harbor. The movie makers showed every detailed of what happened at the course of attack… what the higher commands spoke and planned… and how America took an evasive action.
The actors from both countries made an awesome effort to make this movie more lively… and personally for me this movie gave me lot of knowledge of Pearl Harbor attack. Japanese plan was ingenious and cunning and they took advantage of the attitude of Americans who usually don’t work on weekends, and I like the way every officers of Japan executed the plan perfectly to put Pearl Harbor down.
Few illiterate think Japan and America are very far from each others as Japan is on the far east of the globe and America is on the far west. Since earth is sphere Japan is situated on the right hand side of America and they are neighbors who are separated only by Pacific Ocean. The background music of this movie was scored by Jerry Goldsmith, one of the greatest composers of all time. The suspense created the morning of December 7, while Japanese fighter planes fly over Pacific still creates goose bumps.
For 1970, the special effects of this movie were astonishing. Very little looks fake and nothing looks over done like recent CGI movies. Over all it is a great movie to watch if you have a patience to watch little long movie. This is a kind of movie which has to be in your movie collection.
See you at another movie review, till then SAYONARA (bye bye).
